Service Description

This qualification is ideal for those who work in a childcare setting, such as Childminders, Nursery and Pre-school staff, Nannies and Teachers etc. This course is Ofqual regulated and meets the requirements laid down by Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation. You will gain the necessary skills to administer safe and effective treatment for a range of paediatric first aid situations. What will you learn? Roles and responsibilities of first aider Assessing the emergency situation Dealing with unresponsive Infant/Child The Recovery Position CPR for Infant and Child with use of AED Choking Infant and Child Head and spinal injuries Fractures, dislocations & sprains Anaphylaxis Meningitis Asthma Seizures Diabetic emergencies Poisoning Burns and scalds Electric shock Wounds, bleeding and shock Eye, ear and nose conditions Bites and stings Treatment for hot and cold temperatures Minor injuries Accident recording Other information: This is a blended course, so you will be required to complete 6 hours e-learning ahead of your session in the classroom. Your day in the classroom will consist of practical work and there will be 2 multiple choice theory papers. On successful completion, a 3 year certificate will be issued subject to passing assessments. Learners must be physically capable of carrying out the practical aspects of the course and must be a minimum 14yrs of age. Free parking available at venue. Refreshments are provided, but please bring packed lunch.
