The Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) is a nationally recognised qualification designed to meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This comprehensive two-day course provides the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to respond to a wide range of paediatric emergencies.

This course is ideal for:

  • Those who have gained a Level 2 or Level 3 childcare qualification and need paediatric first aid to meet EYFS requirements.

  • Registered childminders

  • Nursery practitioners, preschool staff and other early years professionals.

  • Nannies and childcare professionals.

  • Owners and staff of baby and children's businesses, activity providers and clubs.

Delivered in a friendly, relaxed and supportive environment, this practical course combines hands-on learning with realistic scenarios to help you build the confidence to respond in an emergency.

What will you learn?

During the course you will learn:

  • The roles and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider.

  • How to assess an emergency situation.

  • The recovery position.

  • CPR and safe use of an AED (defibrillator).

  • How to help a choking infant or child.

  • Head, neck and back injuries.

  • Anaphylaxis and allergic reactions.

  • Meningitis.

  • Asthma.

  • Seizures and febrile convulsions.

  • Diabetic emergencies.

  • Poisoning.

  • Burns and scalds.

  • Electric shock.

  • External bleeding and shock.

  • Eye, ear and nose conditions.

  • Bites and stings.

  • Extremes of temperature.

Course options:

This qualification can be completed in one of two ways:

  • Classroom Course - Two days of face-to-face, practical training.

  • Blended Learning - Approximately 6 hours of online e-learning, followed by approximately 6 hours of practical classroom training.

Both options lead to the same nationally recognised Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) qualification.

 

Additional information:

 

  • Assessment is carried out continuously throughout the course through practical observation, together with a multiple-choice question paper.

  • Successful learners will receive a Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) certificate, valid for 3 years.

  • Learners must be physically able to carry out the practical elements of the course, including CPR performed on the floor.

  • The minimum age for this qualification is 14 years.

 

Course Fees:

Paediatric First Aid (2-Day Classroom Course)

£130 per person

Complete the full qualification over two days of face-to-face, practical training in a friendly and supportive learning environment.

Paediatric First Aid (Blended Learning)

£115 per person

Complete approximately 6 hours of online e-learning at your own pace, followed by approximately 6 hours of practical classroom training. You'll receive the same nationally recognised Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) qualification.

Private Group Training

Private courses are available for nurseries, schools, childminders, baby and children's activity providers, businesses and community groups.

Training can be delivered at your premises or a suitable local venue. Prices vary depending on group size, location and your individual requirements, with competitive rates available for larger groups and in-house training.
