Would you know what to do if a colleague became ill or injured at work?

 

The course is designed for individuals who are required to act as an emergency first aider in the workplace.

The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to make appropriate first aid arrangements for their workforce. This nationally recognised qualification provides learners with the essential knowledge, practical skills and confidence to respond quickly and effectively in a workplace emergency.

As an Ofqual-regulated qualification, employers can be confident they are meeting their legal responsibilities by providing high-quality first aid training for their employees.

Delivered in a friendly, practical and supportive environment, this hands-on course combines realistic scenarios with practical skills to help learners build the confidence to act in an emergency.

What will you learn?

During the course you will learn:

  • The roles and responsibilities of an emergency first aider.

  • How to assess an emergency situation.

  • How to manage an unresponsive casualty.

  • Adult CPR and safe use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).

  • The recovery position.

  • How to help a choking casualty.

  • Recognising and managing seizures.

  • Recognising and treating shock.

  • Managing wounds and bleeding.

  • Treating minor injuries, including cuts, grazes, bruises, minor burns and scalds.

This course follows the current Health and Safety Executive (HSE) syllabus for Emergency First Aid at Work.

 

Additional Information:

  • Course duration: Approximately 6 hours (1 day).

  • Assessment is carried out continuously throughout the course through practical observation, together with a multiple-choice question paper.

  • Successful learners will receive the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF).

  • This is an Ofqual-regulated qualification.

  • Certificates are valid for 3 years.

  • Learners must be physically able to carry out the practical elements of the course, including CPR performed on the floor.

  • The minimum age for this qualification is 14 years.
